They See Me Rolling, They Slut-shaming

 

I am a self-proclaimed feminist. I actively speak feminism on Instagram under the tutelage of my Facebook page, Karutthu Kannamamaa which is also managed by co-admins who are also my friends.

I recently learned that my pictures are on lewd Tamil pages, captioned “Sexy Feminist Bitch waiting for customers.” LOL😂😂😂. This is the only way right-wing people can extend counter-narratives. It is also the easiest way to shut a woman up, leveraging age-old patriarchy that fixes a woman’s dignity and honor on her body. But I won't shut up.😈😈😈💅💅💅 

In the initial days of Karutthu Kannammaa, Malaysian Indian men issued rape and murder threats against the admins, my ex-schoolmate, and me😄😄😄. My friend and I persisted and today, the page is famous in India and it is the Indian men’s turn to slut-shame us💤💤💤. I have received numerous slut-shaming texts in my Instagram DM. 

If we want to break patriarchy effectively, we must first break the patriarchy within us.

I am laughing at these guys😆😆😆. I tell women not to fear such slut-shaming. I follow that advice of mine myself. So, all these are ineffective on me. These guys are so pathetic and sore assed.👌👌

“Boys will be boys. It is girls who must be careful to avoid trouble.”

Apparently, men will continue to be harassers, it is women who have to avoid contact with men. And then, men go #NotAllMen. 😤😤😤

I received advice from ‘well-meaning’ men telling me not to post pictures of myself on Instagram stories.😑😑😑 Why should I stop? What I am doing is my human right. What those guys do is a crime. Why should I sacrifice my human right so that those guys won’t commit cybercrime? Isn’t this the very tenet of patriarchy?

If we still fear patriarchy's tenets like slut-shaming, we can't do shit.

What? Are women only risking themselves to slut-shaming by posting their pictures online? Women are at risk everywhere. My landlord’s son peeped on me as I was bathing - I was 15. Now, it’s hidden cameras. In public restrooms, dressing rooms, and hotel rooms. Women are not immune from slut-shaming and are consumed as porn material anywhere.😓😓😓

Last year, a Malaysian Telegram group that is known as V2K – vitamin for testicles was busted for cybercrime with Malaysian Indian guys vowing to restart the group despite the police crackdown – I remember one guy flagrantly saying, “Those bitches are not shy to show their body so, why should we be shy to see their body?” 👺👺👺Thousand of images of women were featured in the group with a stronghold of over 38,000 male members - females were strictly forbidden from joining the group.👊👊👊 Many of the pictures featured were of women going about their daily life. The nudes were revenge porn. Men who are butthurt after being dumped release their exes’ compromising pictures online, sometimes with the phone number and address of their ex-girlfriends so that random men can harass them.

When criminals can be this impenitent, why should victims shrink in shame? Vociferously voicing out moves mountains. Our silence will be taken as their victory.👩👩👩

Women must ask our boyfriend their nudes and keep them too. It will come in handy one day.

This is the kind of the world we currently live in. We must know that our fear is their strongest weapon – we must strip men like these of their ammo.

Female celebs who support the Indian Farmers Protest are being slut-shamed.

Rihanna, Greta Thunberg, and Mia Khalifa are now being slut-shamed by Indians for tweeting in solidarity with the Indian Farmers' Protest.

This is the only way people in this part of the world can respond to women stating their stand. The hilarious part is, Indian male MPs were caught watching Mia Khalifa's videos during the Indian parliament sessions multiple times. When a woman takes a stand, this patriarchal society gets so rattled - that is how insecure and fragile it is.

Amid all the slut-shaming, Mia Khalifa and Greta Thunberg have reiterated their solidarity with the Indian farmers. Aranya Johar gets slut-shamed very badly just for reciting feminist poems and she reclaims her voice by making posts on the men who call her names and describe how she should be fucked. Here are women showing the way. If I don't follow, it is shameful.

Above all, these people have no idea what I go through due to my rare genetic illness. To live, I need to take prescribed legal narcotics. If I don’t take them, I will succumb to copper toxicity. Daily life is a struggle and I work full time for an eLearning company. My colleagues are from all over the world.

I deal with a lot health-wise. If I managed to look sexy despite going through health complications, it’s a win for me coz I definitely don’t feel sexy when I am having excruciating cluster headaches, nausea, and dizziness due to low blood pressure. These guys won’t last a day in my shoes

I invest in skincare and eat healthily. That’s it. I don’t wear makeup or shave my downy arms and legs. I was born with a lot of fuzz on my body. The clothes I wear are for my comfort. Nothing I do is to get validation from men. 

My honor and dignity lie in how I deal with life on a daily basis, not how much of my skin shows.
