Reasons Why Mouna Raagam's Chandrakumar isn't a Green Flag/Gem

I've been watching clips of the movie Raghu Taatha and made a statement that I wished Divya (Revathi) in Mouna Raagam rejected Chandrakumar (Mohan) like Keerthi Suresh did.

And all hell broke loose. I was vilified. "If Divya had rejected CK (Chandrakumar), she would've missed a diamond."

So, I am compelled to explain why Chandrakumar is not a green flag by any definition.

1. A man who is a green flag wouldn't say that he likes a girl and would like to marry her after she clearly explained about herself and disinterest in marriage. 🚩
If he is a green flag, he wouldn't let her family pressure her into marrying him because although they like him, she doesn't. There is subtle dishonoring of consent on Chandrakumar's behalf. And he let Divya's family leverage his so-called good qualities into forcing her to marry him.

2. Divya clearly emits signs of discomfort when CK approaches her. Instead of noticing that, he proceeds to "first night" until she cries. Then, like a "green flag" he honors her wish to sleep. 🚩
He already knows that Divya isn't into this marriage in the first place. So, he should understand without any explanation that she was pushed into marrying him through familial emotional blackmail and you know, talk to her. Communicate. APOLOGIZE AND ASK HER HOW HE CAN MAKE THINGS RIGHT BECAUSE HE MADE A GREAT MISTAKE. He doesn't do any of these and goes straight into sexual intimacy. He obviously thinks like Divya's mom, "Touched and tied thali," so can touch her without considering her internal turmoil.

3. CK is insensitive when he introduces the portions of his house to Divya. Not only that, after introducing her to the kitchen, he gives her the house keys and says that, "Now, this is your area." 🚩
CK behaves like the typical man. After marrying a woman, he washes his hands off housework, behaving like a typical Indian mother-in-law. Whatever happened to her father's assurance that Divya can study further after marriage? CK never talks about her education. Rather he gives her a separate room coz she shows disinterest in sleeping with him, duping all our younger selves that he's a green flag.

4. When Divya asks CK why did he marry her even after she told him that she didn't want to marry, he says, "Because I liked you." Clearly, he has an entitlement and self-importance issue. 🚩
CK doesn't apologize to Divya even once. I don't think he ever wanted to admit that he was wrong for not respecting her wish. Instead, he tells a story that he wanted to reject her but ended up liking her. Then he frames the question to Divya to psych her - "You're happy with this marriage, right?" The worst part is, he follows his MD's redundant advice on how to woo Divya through expensive gifts. It's like they think of her as a little girl throwing a tantrum and she'd forget everything and agree to start their honeymoon if given gifts.

5. CK to Divya using newborn babies as an analogy: "You're upset not because you dislike me and marriage. You're just new to this. I'll wait until you're used to this." 🚩
Hello, Divya is a grown woman, not a newborn baby. She has developed a mind, likes, dislikes, opinions, convictions, and free will which babies haven't. And CK doesn't acknowledge any of those.

6. It never dawns on CK that he married Divya against her will. 🚩
When Divya tells CK to get her a divorce, after again, his insistence for her to ask for something (and he even gives limited choices - saree or jewelry), the song comes up, painting him as the "victim" of Divya's "heartlessness." And the song lyrics further establishes that Divya is a child. CK wants a woman to marry and bed but when she resists, she's a "child who doesn't know the world."

7. The way CK corners Divya to open up is insulting - he uses his "authority" as a husband and society to break her into confessing. 🚩
CK fails as an equal partner and communicator. Just because he touched and tied thali to Divya and people think of them as a married couple, he expects her to accept him. Gem? LOL.

8. The unnecessary dramatic way to grant Divya her wish - DIVORCE. 🚩
And it goes downhill from there. He gaslights her. He makes her feel guilty and bad about herself, in covert hopes that she'll realize it's her fault and mistake - that she's indeed a newborn baby who is just not used to him. He could've acted normally, even befriend her - instead he chooses to gaslight her to quietly prove that he's right - Divya just needed to get used to marriage and her husband.

9. Considering how much Indian men are obsessed with their future wives' past, CK is a green flag here. It's perhaps CK's only green flag.💚
I repeat, CK never once apologized for marrying Divya against her wish and for not finding out what's bothering her. It seems like he never realized that he made a mistake. So, at best, CK is a soft red flag. And I personally think that not caring about our partner's past is basic - so I don't feel that CK is great.
